Make Faire 2016 – The European Edition – is one of the most important innovation shows in the world, it is an event for ans of inventions, technology and DIY (do it yourself). From 14 to 16 October in Rome, “Fiera di Roma” will turn into an innovation park with hundreds of projects, ideas and inventions exposed by makers, startups, innovative SMEs, schools, universities and Fab Labs coming from all over the world.

Biomedical Lab, the MedTech initiative made in Basilicata, is among the exhibitors at the Maker Faire 2016 with two projects concerning the development of two (future) medical devices:

PD-Watch: the wearable watch for Parkinson’s Disease;
MyVenus: the telemedicine system for home mechanical ventilation.

Do you want to find out more about these projects? Come to our stand at Maker Faire for a demo and to get answers to all your questions!
Will you not be able to be present at the Maker Faire? You can see more details on the two projects in the dedicated webpages of our website or you can contact us at bielle@biomedicallab.it

PD-Watch
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder. The clinical assessment of the features of PD is typically performed by means of neurological examinations and simple motor tests; however, these two evaluations take into account the severity of motor symptoms only during the length of the recording, whereas the severity of tremor may vary very strongly during the day. In order to overcome these drawbacks, the “PD-Watch” has been developed! It performs continuous monitoring of parkinsonian symptoms, in order to support diagnosis and clinical evaluation of PD.

MyVenus
Patients who have acute respiratory failure can benefit from using a treatment, called Home Mechanical Ventilation. The MyVenus allows continuous monitoring of patients, both adults and pediatrics, receiving the treatment of Home Mechanical Ventilation. Physicians, health professionals and caregivers are enabled to monitor treatment by means of a web interface available via PC or mobile devices (e.g. smartphone and tablet) with an Internet connection.
